A Brief Overview of the VALORANT Champions Tour
With more than 1.7 million peak concurrent viewers on Twitch during its record-breaking closed beta, VALORANT swiftly established itself as the fastest-growing esports in the year 2020. Riot Games developed the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) in order to support the competitive scene. The VCT is a year-long, global circuit that features three categories of competition: Challengers, Masters, and Champions. Team VALORANT participates in regional Challengers events, then qualifies for worldwide Masters events with the objective of earning a seat at Champions, a two-week-long tournament in which one team will be crowned VALORANT Global Champions. The competition tour will take place throughout the season and will include competitions in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
What is VCC?
VCC is referred to as VALORANT Conquerors Championship. A partnership between South Asia’s leading esports company, NODWIN Gaming, and one of the world’s leading gaming and esports companies, Riot Games, has resulted in the launch of the VALORANT Conquerors Championship, which will serve as a qualifying tournament for the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers, which will be a part of the VALORANT Champions Tour in 2021. For a chance to win a share of INR 25 Lacs (33,000 USD) in prize money, teams will fight in numerous sub-regional qualifiers, playoffs, and grand finals. The registration period for VCC officially began on June 15th.
Format for VCC 2021
A total of 5 sub-regions will compete in the tournament, with each sub-region having its own set of qualifying rounds.
India Pakistan and Afghanistan Nepal and Bhutan Sri Lanka and Maldives Bangladesh Wild Card
India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will each have two qualifiers, however, the remaining of the sub-regions will only have one qualifier each. A single-elimination format will be used for all of the matches. The winner team from each sub-regional qualifier will progress to the championship playoffs of the VALORANT Conquerors. In the Wildcard, the runner-up teams from the sub-regional qualifiers will compete in a double-elimination match series in order to secure a spot in the VCC Playoffs. There will be a total of eight teams that will advance to the postseason. The top two teams from the playoffs will advance to the Grand Finals, where the winner will receive a spot in the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers for the next season.
